“Local Film Festivals are very important.
The Multiplexes show a very narrow range of films, but cinema has so much more to offer.
It is those who share a real enthusiasm for films and who put on Festivals like Glenrothes who are our hope for the future.
Good Luck to the Festival”
- Ken Loach
The Festival has just received this message of support from Director Ken Loach, 2006 Cannes Palme D’Or Winner for “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”
Speaking on behalf of the Festival Committee, Pete Rabjohns said: “Ken Loach has been a hero of mine since I saw “Kathy Come Home” on “Play for Today” in 1965. I doubt there’s a film-maker alive who hasn’t been influenced by him, or a cinema-goer who doesn’t know his work, so his message of support for our new Festival is especially welcome.
On behalf of the Festival Committee, I’d like to thank Ken for his good wishes, and also Michael Kelly for bringing us to his attention”
